Tulips have always been a favourite pick for spring planting, for their stately grace and streamline majesty. Tulips can add a touch of class to any garden. If you are planning to use tulips in your garden , there are a few steps you can take to ensure that your tulips are attractive and healthy.
Choosing healthy bulbs is the first step to growing beautiful tulips. Containers of bulbs may be less expensive, but you are less likely to receive a good portion of quality bulbs this way. Bulbs should be large in size, with no cracks or signs of rotting on the outside of the bulb. Purchasing bulbs from a reputable tulip like Brecks or Dutch Gardens is your best bet. Tulips will bloom best when planted in the autumn months before the first frost, typically around October or November. Although they can also be planted in the spring. Choose a location that receives ample sunlight and does not retain too much water. Too much moisture will cause the bulbs to rot. Preparing the soil before planting your tulips will provide an extra boost in their health and beauty. Soil should be worked and loosened well. Try to work a depth of at least six inches of soil.  Intervale Organic Compost and  Bone Meal can be added while working the soil to promote growth.

Red Tulips  are used to express/declare your love. The belief in love that one has can be exhibited/displayed with these red colored flowers; the quality of true love therefore, gets associated with the red tulip.

White Tulips mean qualities such as purity, innocence and humility are associated with white tulips. The attribute of forgiveness is also used in reference with the white color. A bouquet of white tulips is therefore, suitable for the purpose of seeking forgiveness/apologizing. White tulips can also be used in funeral ceremonies; remembrance and respect is displayed through  white tulips.

Purple Tulips are known for the quality of royalty. A reference to the purple color being associated with quality of nobility. Pink Tulips, use of pink tulips is not restricted to certain, specific occasions. The quality of perfect happiness is associated with these tulips. One can use these flowers while offering best wishes. The pink and red tulips have somewhat similar meaning. The red ones are associated with romance, while the pink tulips can be used in displaying care and attachment.

Yellow Tulips the yellow color is generally associated with friendship. However, many different can be associated with yellow tulips. People have derived both positive and negative meanings out of yellow tulips. Yellow color represents the brightness of sunshine.
